Advice to my teenage self….

The most important advice I’ve learned to share with teenagers is to realize life is a set of separate journeys. We travel from birth to 5, if we are lucky, to be by the sides of mom and dad. Then we head off to school. Here our teachers become our surrogate parents from 8-4 Monday through Friday. Then after 12 years of our teachers making demands, we head off to college. Luckily in college we lean we are “paying” an adult to teach us. And, although the teacher sets goals and homework for us, we can simply fire our professors by dropping their classes and moving on to another professor who is more fair and more engaging. The next journey most of the time is marriage and children. With the high cost of raising children nowadays, a lot of us chose not to have them.

What advice would you give to your teenage self?
