30 years ago I bought a book that changed my life forever… “Diet for a New America”. This was written by John Robbins, the only child of Irv Robbins who started Baskin and Robbins Ice Cream conglomerate. John grew up with money and an ice cream cone shaped swimming pool in his back yard. He was very sickly as a child as he ate a whole lot of ice cream… while convalescing in bed quite often, John started thinking about how horrible a life of a dairy cow is. When he was 18, he took his girlfriend and $600 with 200 books to an island. He specifically learned about the cruelty and abuse happening to all domesticated livestock that we consume for food….
